AWARD DISCIPLINES

Photography award management

A photography award needs more than an upload form. Its category structure, image requirements and judging process should help photographers present their work clearly and give jurors a consistent basis for review. We help organisers connect those decisions with the website, identity, communications and award production.

For photography organisations, cultural institutions, brands, universities and public bodies.

01

Define what the award recognises

Decide whether the programme recognises a single image, a coherent series or a longer photographic project. Professional, amateur and student categories need understandable eligibility rules, while themes should leave enough room for different photographic approaches.

  • Category definitions, entrant eligibility and edition dates.
  • Single-image and series limits, captions and project statements.
  • Published expectations for editing, composites and AI-generated content.

02

Prepare submissions and jury review

Specify the image formats and file limits before opening entries, then check the submission journey against the judging workflow. Establish how the jury will consider image quality, originality, storytelling and relevance to the category, including how conflicts of interest are handled.

  • Image dimensions, colour guidance, file sizes and preview behaviour.
  • A judging rubric, review stages and a process for resolving ties.
  • Entrant support, missing-information checks and finalist verification.

03

Plan the life of the selected work

Decide early which results will appear in a public gallery, publication or exhibition. Final files, accurate captions and photographer credits should be ready before the announcement, with publication permissions agreed as part of the programme.

  • Winner notifications, announcement copy and a publication schedule.
  • Final-resolution image collection and consistent photographer credits.
  • Certificates, trophies and an edition archive for future reference.

START WITH THE BRIEF

Questions to shape your programme.

  • Will entries be individual photographs, series or both?
  • Which audiences, countries and experience levels can enter?
  • What will winners receive, and where will their work be shown?
  • Who will review entries and approve the final results?
